West Seneca has always been a town where dreams are nurtured and champions are made, and one of its own, Ryan Monolopolus, is living proof. Born and raised in this close-knit community, Ryan’s journey from a determined four-year-old martial artist to a star on the silver screen is nothing short of inspiring.

Ryan’s story began at Horizon Martial Arts, under the guidance of Datu Tim Hartman, a beloved mentor who still leads classes today. As Vice President of the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce, Datu Hartman has long been a pillar of the community, shaping not only great martial artists but great people. Even as a child, Ryan’s focus and drive were undeniable. It was clear he was destined for greatness — not just in martial arts, where he earned international and world titles, but also in the glimmering world of film.

Now based in Atlanta, Georgia — fondly called “Hollywood of the Southeast” — Ryan has built an impressive career in the entertainment industry. He’s worked as a stunt double for none other than Willem Dafoe, portraying the Green Goblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home. He’s left his mark on projects like She-Hulk, Black Adam and The Walking Dead. Most recently, Ryan wowed audiences on the hit series Cobra Kai, where he portrayed the captain of the Irish karate team, the Dublin Thunder. His breathtaking two-on-one fight scene on an elevated platform showcased martial arts mastery so stunning it caught the attention of Cobra Kai legends Ralph Macchio and William Zabka. They personally commended Ryan on his stellar performance, and he was invited back for more filming — a testament to his talent and dedication.

Ryan’s success is a source of pride for his hometown. Seeing one of our own rise to international fame while staying true to his roots is a reminder that big dreams can come from small towns. Ryan, your parents, your mentor and your community are beaming with pride. Thank you for representing West Seneca with excellence, passion and heart.

Congratulations on all of your achievements — here’s to many more!
