New York’s Health & Essential Rights Act, also known as the HERO Act, is New York State’s newly enacted infectious disease prevention requirement. It creates enforceable safety and health standards to stop the spread of COVID-19 and other infectious diseases in the workplace through prevention plans and the creation of employee safety committees. The new law prohibits employers from retaliating against employees who exercise their rights under the HERO Act or their workplace prevention plan.
