The West Seneca Public Library is about to unveil 27 new books in its Local History Collection. The purchase of these books was made possible through a generous donation of the Friends of the West Seneca Public Library. The books were selected by Emily Moser, librarian.

A number of local guest celebrities have been invited to preview a book and then tell everyone all about it at the Evening Premiere, which will be a free, public program for all to attend.

The topics of the new books are varied. Included in the collection are Sports: “Buffalo Bills IQ, the Test of True Fandom” by Jim Baker; Entertainment: two books by William Kae about Crystal Beach, and “Not Just Snow and Chicken Wings, Positive Stories About Buffalo’s Rebirth” by Jeff Dahlberg; Local History: “Lake Erie Wine Country” by Jewel Leigh Ellis, “A History of Native American Land Rights in Upstate New York” by Cindy Amrhein, and “Heaven’s Ditch, God, Gold and Murder on the Erie Canal” by Jack Kelly. There are many more for selection and enjoyment.

A number of local guest celebrities have been invited to preview one of the new books, including Mary Jean Jakubowski, director of the Buffalo and Erie County Library System; Gene Hart, councilman of West Seneca; Joan Lillis, former supervisor of West Seneca; Dr. Mark Crawford, former West Seneca School superintendent; and Rob Alessi, director of the West Seneca Public Library. Their interesting comments can be heard at the Evening Premiere, which will be a free, public program for all to attend.

The Evening Premiere of the new additions to the Local History Collection will be Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the West Seneca Public Library, 1300 Union Road, in the new Library Community Room.
