SUMMARY:Small Business Summit
DESCRIPTION:The West Seneca Chamber of Commerce and the GEICO Local Office in West Seneca are teaming up to host Senator Patrick M. Gallivan’s annual Small Business Summit on Wednesday\, Oct. 21. This event will take place in the large meeting room of the West Seneca Community Center & Library located at 1300 Union Road. Check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m\, followed by the presentation from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The event is free and open to the public\, and light refreshments will be offered. Pre-registration is required. \nSenator Gallivan was first elected to the Senate in 2010\, representing all or parts of Erie\, Wyoming\, Livingston and Monroe counties. He is a small business owner and has pushed to eliminate onerous and outdated regulations on private businesses. \nThe remainder of the session will focus on the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic\, its impact on our business community\, and how we are all adjusting to new procedures and protocols. Frank Swiatek will offer a presentation titled “How to Solve Problems & Drive Results During the Recovery.” The small business environment is full of challenges\, problems and issues (CPI’s) because of the Covid-19 crisis. This is in addition to solving your normal CPI’s of running a business! This session will focus on using an organized\, creative\, problem-solving approach to solving these CPI’s. It will help you to develop a critical thinking approach to solving undesirable results\, and enable you to create solutions that work while reducing your frustrations. \nReservations are required and seating will be limited. Masks will be required until seated\, and social distancing regulations will be closely followed. To reserve your spot at the Small Business Summit\, please contact Senator Gallivan’s office at 656-8544.

SUMMARY:BBB Webinar: Diversity 2.0 and Leadership
DESCRIPTION:Diversity 2.0 and Leadership: Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York is excited to welcome Gwen Webber-McLeod and the team at Gwen\, Inc. (a BBB Accredited Business) for this informative webinar.\n\n\n\nDuring this interactive webinar\, you will:\n• Discuss recruitment & retention strategies with a focus on hiring & retaining the Unexpected Leader®.\n• Examine the impact of implicit bias & micro-aggression in creating company cultures that support Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) initiatives.\n• Discuss methods of integrating new learning into ongoing D&I efforts in your company.\n\n\n\nWhy you need to attend this webinar? Organizations\, businesses\, and government agencies are motivated by several factors to implement diversity initiatives. Typically\, a business is motivated by the following:\n• It is the right thing to do. Leaders believe diversity is an important concept for societal reasons. Additionally\, it is the right thing to do because local\, state\, and federal entities\nmandate compliance with certain laws and regulations.\n• It is about the bottom line. Leaders recognize the opportunity to increase business opportunities by strategically aligning with diverse populations as potential customers and clients.\n• None of Us Is Smarter Than All of Us. Leaders recognize the power of “collective intellect” and diverse perspectives on the achievement of business goals. They strategically build a diverse workforce with the intention of attracting the best and brightest minds to contribute to the achievement of business goals.\n\n\n\nThis webinar is free and open to BBB Accredited Businesses and Community Partners.
