DESCRIPTION:The West Seneca Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the winners of the organization’s 77th annual Community Awards. An awards dinner will take place on Feb. 15 at Kloc’s Grove in West Seneca. \nBusiness of the Year\, Steppin’ Out Dance Academy: When they’re not busy practicing routines in the dance studio\, dancers and staff at Steppin’ Out Dance Academy in West Seneca are busy contributing in many ways to organizations and events in our community such as the PUNT Pediatric Cancer Collaborative\, Dance Hope Cure\, Dancers Give Back\, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the West Seneca Community Food Pantry. “We feel it’s key for our dancers to understand the importance of giving back to the community\,” said Steppin’ Out owner Patty Pawlowski. \nChamber Member of the Year\, Western New York Federal Credit Union: WNY Federal Credit Union loves West Seneca\, and it’s pretty obvious. Not only did they expand their Union Road location in 2023\, but they are always supporting local events and organizations\, including the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce. WNYFCU sponsors all of the Chamber’s major events and activities\, including the organization’s Community Food Drives\, Community Awards Dinner\, Women In Business Breakfast\, Golf Tournament\, Community Guide\, BurchFest and Christmas Tree & Art Auction\, and they were the first to step up to sponsor the Chamber’s 2024 Eclipse event that will take place in April. They are also a long-time sponsor the West Seneca Farmers’ Market\, which has become an incubator for local businesses and a favorite among shoppers and vendors. \nCitizen of the Year\, Jennifer McAndrew: Jennifer serves as executive director of Plymouth Crossroads\, a nonprofit organization that offers residential supports for runaway and homeless males ages 16 to 20 in an atmosphere supporting dignity\, respect and self-sufficiency. A proud resident of our town for more than two decades\, she has also been involved with several other local organizations over the years\, including the Trinity Food Pantry\, Boy Scouts\, South Buffalo Charter School\, Brownies and 4H. \nCommunity Service Organization of the Year\, Spectrum Health & Human Services: Founded in 1973 to provide behavioral health and substance abuse counseling\, Spectrum Health & Human Services staffs a busy office in West Seneca\, hosts the annual Not One More: Stand Together to End Overdose event in Veterans Park\, offers monthly outreach visits in the West Seneca Community Center & Library\, and much more. The organization is committed to serving the West Seneca community and contributing to the town’s growth\, health and vibrancy.  \nEducator of the Year\, Rosalia Carraba: An employee of the West Seneca Central School District since 2001\, Rosalia is a librarian at West Seneca East Middle School and is extremely proud of her involvement in the Reading Rover program\, a unique initiative that brings books into the West Seneca community.  \nGerald Hathaway Young Entrepreneur of the Year\, Andrew Frelock: Andrew\, a senior at West Seneca West High School and a member of the Business & Finance Academy\, served as a summer intern for the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce\, assisting vendors and customers at the weekly West Seneca Farmers’ Market. An avid fisherman\, Andrew is also an entrepreneur who enjoys making handcrafted fishing lures in his spare time. He had an opportunity to test those entrepreneurial skills when he was invited to display and sell his lures for one week at the farmers’ market and again at the town’s holiday marketplace. DESCRIPTION:West Seneca’s community service organizations will begin accepting bids at 9 a.m. Friday\, Dec. 1\, on 11 beautifully decorated Christmas trees and several pieces of artwork donated by members of the West Seneca Art Society. The trees and artwork will be on display for public viewing in the Martha Burchfield Richter Atrium within the West Seneca Community Center & Library\, located at 1300 Union Road\, beginning Dec. 1. \nWest Seneca service organizations participating in this unique holiday fundraising event include the Art Society\, Chamber of Commerce\, Kiwanis Club\, Lions Club\, Rotary Club and Woman’s Club. Proceeds from this year’s festivities will benefit Spectrum Health & Human Services\, Make-A-Wish of WNY and BurchFest 2024. \nThemed trees will be decorated by the following groups: Burchfield Nature & Art Center\, GEICO Local Office West Seneca\, Grandma Roxann’s and Snoopy’s Little Free Libraries\, Kate’s Cookie Creations\, Lauren Kirchmyer/Buffalo Bandettes\, NRT Sales\, Spectrum Health & Human Services\, West Seneca Chamber of Commerce\, West Seneca Lions Club\, West Seneca Police Benevolent Association and WNY Federal Credit Union. The artificial trees are pre-lit; 10 stand 6.5 feet tall\, while one stands at approximately five feet tall. \nAdditionally\, approximately 15 pieces of art donated by members of the West Seneca Art Society and other artisans will also be on display and up for auction in the Community Center & Library beginning Dec. 1. \nThere are three ways to bid on the trees and artwork beginning Dec. 1:\n1. Send a private message to the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce Facebook page.\n2. Call the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce at 674-4900.\n3. Fill out a bid form on the table outside the Chamber of Commerce office in the West Seneca Community Center & Library at 1300 Union Road. \nBids will be accepted until noon Wednesday\, Dec. 13. Bid updates for all trees and artwork will be shown daily on the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. The minimum opening bid is $100 per tree and $25 per piece of artwork. \nThe winning bidders can remove their trees and artwork from the Community Center beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday\, Dec. 14 by contacting the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce at 674-4900. Removal is the responsibility of the winner.

DESCRIPTION:The West Seneca Chamber of Commerce will host its 32nd annual golf tournament on Wednesday\, Aug. 2\, at Harvest Hill Golf Course located at 3052 Transit Road. \n“This is our largest fundraising event of the year and our participants and sponsors always have a great time networking and playing 18 holes\,” said Joe Kirchmyer\, executive director of the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce. “We truly appreciate the support we receive from the community\, as it helps us provide year-round programming utilized by local businesses\, organizations and residents.” \nIn addition to a traditional scramble format\, the outing will feature lunch\, dinner\, door prizes\, a sports memorabilia/silent auction\, split club and other raffles\, pizza and beverages on the course\, and several contests including closest to the pin\, longest drive and putting. There will also be prizes for the golfers with the best team score\, as well as other surprises throughout the day! \nThe cost is $150 per golfer\, and foursomes are encouraged. Please note that you do not have to be a Chamber member to participate. \nNumerous sponsorship levels priced at $100\, $500\, $1\,000\, $2\,000 and $4\,000 are available; $1\,000 and $2\,000 sponsorships include one foursome\, and the $4\,000 naming rights sponsorship includes two foursomes! \nThe Chamber is also looking for prize donations such as gift cards\, silent auction items\, big ticket raffle items\, and bottles of liquor or wine. DESCRIPTION:The West Seneca Chamber of Commerce will host its second annual West Seneca Day at Sahlen Field in downtown Buffalo on Friday\, July 28\, when the Buffalo Bisons take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (AAA team of the New York Yankees) at 7:05 p.m. West Seneca Day is open to both Chamber members and nonmembers of all ages and is sponsored by Manzella Orthodontics of West Seneca.  \nTickets for the event are $25 each which includes your game ticket\, hot dog\, pop and $5 Bisons Buck coupon. DESCRIPTION:In an effort to once again replenish our local food pantries\, the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce will host its second Community Food Drive of 2023. This one will take place throughout the month of July. \n“Inflation has hit families hard\, which is making it difficult on our local food pantries\,” said Joe Kirchmyer\, executive director of the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce. “Our January Community Food Drive was an incredible success and we’re hoping we can come close to repeating that effort. The need in our community is year-round.” \nNonperishable food items and personal care products can be dropped off at the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce office in the West Seneca Community Center & Library\, 1300 Union Road\, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday during the month of July. Pick-ups for larger donations can be arranged by contacting the Chamber of Commerce at 674-4900. DESCRIPTION:The West Seneca Chamber of Commerce frequently uses the tagline “Let’s Grow West Seneca\,” and now the nonprofit business organization wants to put those words into action. \nAs part of a growth\, beautification and sustainability project\, the Chamber is hoping to collect a minimum of 1\,000 flower and vegetable seed packets that they will distribute to spectators during the town’s annual Community Days Parade on Saturday\, June 24. \n“As a business organization\, we’re all about growing our town from a commercial and residential perspective\,” said Joe Kirchmyer\, executive director of the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce. “Now\, we’re taking that mission and working in two other elements that are near and dear to us — beautification and sustainability.” \nThe Chamber is now reaching out to the public — along with businesses and organizations — for donations of seed packets or cash that can be used to purchase seed packages. Donations can be dropped off at the Chamber office within the West Seneca Community Center & Library\, located at 1300 Union Road. Office hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays. Arrangements for pick-up can also be made by calling the Chamber at 674-4900. \n“As a Chamber\, it is incredibly important for us to serve not only the business community\, but our community as a whole\,” Kirchmyer added. “We hope the entire community will appreciate the symbolism behind this project and show their support. In the end\, we will all benefit.” \nUPDATE: Parade assembly is at 1 p.m. Parade begins at 2 p.m. And\, we now have well over 2\,000 seed packets for distribution!
