DESCRIPTION:The West Seneca Chamber of Commerce and Systems Technology Group\, Inc. will host another one of the Chamber’s popular “one-minute networking events” from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday\, Oct. 2. Doors will open at 8:45 a.m. STG is located at 3218 Lake Shore Road in Blasdell. \nThe event is open to both Chamber members and nonmembers\, and reservations are required. Light refreshments will be provided. \nThis is the first time the Chamber will hold one of its networking meetings outside of West Seneca. DESCRIPTION:BurchFest returns on September 21 with an expanded lineup \nBuilding off the success of the first ever BurchFest event held in September 2023\, BurchFest 2024 promises to be even bigger and better! The goal of the event is to celebrate the life and legacy of former West Seneca resident and world-renowned artist Charles Burchfield and family\, and to promote The Charles Burchfield Gardenville District as a growing and significant arts tourism destination. \n“A new walking tour\, new exhibits and a performance by the West Seneca Town Band have been added to the BurchFest 2024 schedule\,” said Joe Kirchmyer\, executive director of the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce. The event will take place at multiple locations throughout the town on Saturday\, Sept. 21. \nFollowing is a list of locations\, times and activities to help you plan your BurchFest adventure: \nCharles Burchfield Home & Studio\, 3574 Clinton Street\nHours: 10-3\nTour the recently renovated studio of Charles Burchfield\, as well as a small portion of the home where he once lived and worked. Members of the West Seneca Art Society will be plein air painting and sketching on the grounds. Plus\, view multiple prints of the works of Charles Burchfield. \nCharles Burchfield Nature & Art Center & Burchfield Park\, 2001 Union Road\nHours: BNAC 11-3\, park dawn until dusk\nThe new Burchfield room will be open\, plus a watercolor painting project\, art exhibit\, tree craft\, and a new explore activity in the park. Members of the West Seneca Art Society will be plein air painting and sketching on the grounds. Representatives from Red Disk/White Bicycle\, manufacturer of Burchfield wallpaper designs\, will also be on hand. \nChristian Metz House\, 12 School Street\nHours: 10-3\nWest Seneca’s oldest building will host an informal open house. The first-floor flooring within the historic building was recently restored using yellow pine boards and square-headed nails reflective of the time period during which the Metz House was built. Multiple historic pieces are also on display. \nExplore Buffalo’s Gardenville Walking Tour\nHours: 11-12:30\nJoin Explore Buffalo for a Gardenville Walking Tour\, which will meet at 11 a.m. at the Burchfield Nature & Art Center. DESCRIPTION:The West Seneca Chamber of Commerce will host its 33rd annual golf tournament on Thursday\, Aug. 8\, at Chestnut Hill Country Club\, 1330 Broadway\, Darien Center. Registration begins at 9 a.m.\, with a shotgun start set for 10 a.m.  \n“We like to change the venue every few years to give our golfers a change of scenery and an opportunity to experience a different course\,” said Joe Kirchmyer\, executive director of the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce. “As a nonprofit organization\, this is our largest fundraising event of the year and it’s very important to us that our participants and sponsors have a great time networking and playing 18 holes. We truly appreciate the support we receive from the community as it helps us provide year-round programming utilized by local businesses\, organizations and residents.” \nIn addition to a traditional scramble format\, the outing will feature lunch at the turn\, a steak dinner\, door prizes\, a sports memorabilia silent auction\, split club and other raffles\, beverage carts on the course\, and several contests including closest to the pin\, longest drive and putting. There will also be prizes for the golfers with the best team score\, as well as other surprises throughout the day! \nThe cost is just $125 per golfer\, and foursomes are encouraged. An awards dinner will take place on Feb. 15 at Kloc’s Grove in West Seneca. \nBusiness of the Year\, Steppin’ Out Dance Academy: When they’re not busy practicing routines in the dance studio\, dancers and staff at Steppin’ Out Dance Academy in West Seneca are busy contributing in many ways to organizations and events in our community such as the PUNT Pediatric Cancer Collaborative\, Dance Hope Cure\, Dancers Give Back\, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the West Seneca Community Food Pantry. “We feel it’s key for our dancers to understand the importance of giving back to the community\,” said Steppin’ Out owner Patty Pawlowski. \nChamber Member of the Year\, Western New York Federal Credit Union: WNY Federal Credit Union loves West Seneca\, and it’s pretty obvious. Not only did they expand their Union Road location in 2023\, but they are always supporting local events and organizations\, including the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce. WNYFCU sponsors all of the Chamber’s major events and activities\, including the organization’s Community Food Drives\, Community Awards Dinner\, Women In Business Breakfast\, Golf Tournament\, Community Guide\, BurchFest and Christmas Tree & Art Auction\, and they were the first to step up to sponsor the Chamber’s 2024 Eclipse event that will take place in April. They are also a long-time sponsor the West Seneca Farmers’ Market\, which has become an incubator for local businesses and a favorite among shoppers and vendors. \nCitizen of the Year\, Jennifer McAndrew: Jennifer serves as executive director of Plymouth Crossroads\, a nonprofit organization that offers residential supports for runaway and homeless males ages 16 to 20 in an atmosphere supporting dignity\, respect and self-sufficiency. A proud resident of our town for more than two decades\, she has also been involved with several other local organizations over the years\, including the Trinity Food Pantry\, Boy Scouts\, South Buffalo Charter School\, Brownies and 4H. \nCommunity Service Organization of the Year\, Spectrum Health & Human Services: Founded in 1973 to provide behavioral health and substance abuse counseling\, Spectrum Health & Human Services staffs a busy office in West Seneca\, hosts the annual Not One More: Stand Together to End Overdose event in Veterans Park\, offers monthly outreach visits in the West Seneca Community Center & Library\, and much more. The organization is committed to serving the West Seneca community and contributing to the town’s growth\, health and vibrancy.  \nEducator of the Year\, Rosalia Carraba: An employee of the West Seneca Central School District since 2001\, Rosalia is a librarian at West Seneca East Middle School and is extremely proud of her involvement in the Reading Rover program\, a unique initiative that brings books into the West Seneca community.  \nGerald Hathaway Young Entrepreneur of the Year\, Andrew Frelock: Andrew\, a senior at West Seneca West High School and a member of the Business & Finance Academy\, served as a summer intern for the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce\, assisting vendors and customers at the weekly West Seneca Farmers’ Market. An avid fisherman\, Andrew is also an entrepreneur who enjoys making handcrafted fishing lures in his spare time. He had an opportunity to test those entrepreneurial skills when he was invited to display and sell his lures for one week at the farmers’ market and again at the town’s holiday marketplace.
