DESCRIPTION:The West Seneca Chamber of Commerce proudly announced that its 30th annual golf tournament will take place on Wednesday\, Aug. 4\, following a year off due to Covid restrictions. Furthermore\, the tournament is moving closer to home and will take place at Harvest Hill Golf Course located at 3052 Transit Road. \n“This is our largest fundraiser of the year and we can’t wait to see all of our supporters back on the golf course in 2021\,” said Joe Kirchmyer\, executive director of the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce. “As long as the weather cooperates\, I can guarantee everyone will have a great time!” \nIn addition to a traditional scramble format\, the outing will feature lunch\, dinner\, happy hour\, a sports memorabilia/silent auction\, split club and other raffles\, pizza and beverages on the course\, and several contests including closest to the pin\, longest drive and putting. There will also be prizes for the golfers with the best team score\, as well as other surprises. \nThe cost is $125 per golfer\, and foursomes are encouraged. Please note that you do not have to be a Chamber member to participate and that any Covid-related restrictions such as social distancing and masks will be enforced as required. \nNumerous sponsorship levels priced at $100\, $500\, $1\,000 and $2\,000 are available; $1\,000 and $2\,000 sponsorships include a foursome. The Chamber is also looking for prize donations such as gift cards\, silent auction items\, big ticket raffle items\, and bottles of liquor or wine. Plenty of free parking is available directly behind the firehall. \nDuring their visit\, participants will spend 15 minutes at three different learning stations for breakout sessions with trained volunteer firefighters. \nSession A\, CPR and Defibrillation: In this breakout session\, participants will practice hands-only CPR skills and will learn how to use the defibrillation units commonly found in larger buildings and offices. Explanation will be given on what the defibrillation unit does and how it critically integrates into the life-saving process. \nSession B\, Stop the Bleed: This training session will explain and practice the application of a tourniquet\, dispel myths on its use and discuss what should and should not be used as a tourniquet alternative. Bleeding control will be demonstrated with suggestions for absolute essentials for a first aid kit. \nSession C\, Practical Hands-on Use of a Fire Extinguisher Using a Fire Pan: This session will teach the PASS method for extinguishment of a small fire (Pull the pin\, Aim the nozzle\, Squeeze the handle\, Sweep the base of the fire). DESCRIPTION:Prior to the pandemic\, the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce held a bimonthly breakfast networking event that became quite popular among Chamber members\, with several members reporting new business activity as a result of the meetings. \nThe morning networking opportunity will mark its official return from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday\, June 11\, in the large meeting room of the West Seneca Community Center & Library\, 1300 Union Road\, West Seneca. Seating will be limited\, and RSVPs are required. \n“We call these meetings a ‘one-minute networking event’ because all attendees have approximately one minute to introduce themselves and give a brief update on their business or organization as we go around the room\,” said Joe Kirchmyer\, executive director of the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce. “The concept was really growing in popularity before the pandemic\, so we’re very happy to be able to meet in-person once again. The only difference is that we will not be able to provide a communal breakfast for attendees. \n“In addition to having a one-minute spotlight\, attendees will have an opportunity to network with other business and organizational leaders following the meeting\, and that’s when we typically see referrals being made and handshake agreements taking place. And that — connecting businesses — is what the Chamber is all about!” \nSeating at the event will be socially distant\, and attendees are asked to please wear a mask until they are seated at their individual table.
