DESCRIPTION:First came Burchfield Park and the Charles E. Burchfield Nature & Art Center. Just a few years ago\, we built on the legacy left behind by the world-renowned artist and his family by establishing the Charles Burchfield Gardenville District\, a walkable arts-tourism corridor in our town made up of several artistic\, historic and educational destinations. And then came BurchFest\, a now annual event that will take place this year on Saturday\, Sept. 13\, 2025. \nNow in its third year\, BurchFest happens at multiple locations throughout the town. Here’s what you can expect at BurchFest 2025:  \nCharles Burchfield Home & Studio\, 3574 Clinton Street\nHours: 11-3\nTour the recently renovated studio of Charles Burchfield\, as well as a small portion of the home where he once lived and worked. Plus\, multiple prints of the works of Charles Burchfield will be on display for viewing. \nCharles Burchfield Nature & Art Center & Burchfield Park\, 2001 Union Road\nHours: BNAC 12-3\, park open dawn until dusk\nThe Nature & Art Center and surrounding park have several BurchFest offerings planned:\n• Theme: Charles Burchfield – The Naturalist. Emphasis on the elements of nature that Charles Burchfield loved and explored throughout his life.\n• Environmental Room: Various nature displays from birds and bugs to taxidermy\, invasive species\, recycling and more.\n• Burchfield Room: The story of Charles Burchfield as a painter\, husband\, father and member of our community.\n• History Room: Displays reflecting Old Gardenville and the Seneca Nation.\n• Art Gallery: A display by People Inc. artists.\n• Burchfield Park: Burchfield placards throughout the park and a Burchfield buffalo on the patio.\n• Explore Room: A variety of hands-on activities for kids.\n• Conference Room: Community art project.\n• Classroom: Visitors can participate in nature-centered crafts using watercolors.   \nChristian Metz House\, 12 School Street\nHours: 10-3\nWest Seneca’s oldest building will host an informal open house. The first-floor flooring within the historic building was recently restored using yellow pine boards and square-headed nails reflective of the time period during which the Metz House was built. Multiple historic pieces are also on display. \nFourteen Holy Helpers Church\, 1345 Indian Church Road\nHours: 11-3\nFourteen Holy Helpers Church will be open for visitors from 11 a.m. to 3 pm. Volunteers will give tours of the church and will answer any questions about the history and artifacts on display. Additionally\, their parking lot will be available for people coming to the Gardenville area for BurchFest. The West Seneca Town Band will also offer a BurchFest performance from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. \nMartha Burchfield Richter Atrium\, 1300 Union Road\nHours: 10-4\n“Watercolors and Drawings by Martha Burchfield Richter: Works from the Schoene Family” will be on display during BurchFest and through September. This exhibition of works by Charles Burchfield’s daughter Martha connects her watercolor paintings of nature with related drawings and is guest curated by Dr. Gerald Mead. \nPainting With A Twist\, 1054 Union Road\nHours: 1 & 6 p.m.\nBurchfield-inspired painting sessions! An all-ages class will run from 1 to 2:30 p.m.\, while an adult class (18+) will run from 6 to 8 p.m. All materials are included for these fun and engaging classes. Fees apply. Please contact the venue to reserve a seat. \nSt. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church\, 3512 Clinton Street\nHours: 10-3\nLocal artists\, crafters and creative people will participate in a vendor fair\, both inside and on the lawn. Plus\, food trucks and additional parking for BurchFest attendees. \nWest Seneca Art Society\nMultiple locations and hours\nArtists Pat Wolek and Debbie Terzian will be teaching a class on how to design a Burchfield-inspired fidget spinner. This class will take place in the Makerspace area within the West Seneca Public Library from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Suitable age range for this class is 4 to 10 years old. Please call the library at (716) 674-2928 or stop in to register. Additionally\, plein air artists from the West Seneca Art Society and other organizations will be on the Burchfield Nature & Art Center grounds and Buffalo Creek. The Art Society will also have a greeter stationed near the parking lot with information about the BurchFest event. \nWest Seneca Public Library\, 1300 Union Road\nHours: 10-4\nAs mentioned above\, the West Seneca Art Society will be running a program in the library’s Makerspace area from 10:30 a.m. to noon for kids ages 4 to 10 where they will be designing a fidget spinner with Charles Burchfield-inspired designs that they will get to take home after the program. At 11 a.m.\, the large community room will feature a presentation — Another Look at Charles Burchfield: Stories\, Memories and Observations of Charles Burchfield From His Lifelong Neighbors — with Jackie and Joan Albarella. DESCRIPTION:The West Seneca Chamber of Commerce will host its 34th annual golf tournament on Wednesday\, July 30\, at Chestnut Hill Country Club\, 1330 Broadway\, Darien Center. Registration begins at 9 a.m.\, with a shotgun start set for 10 a.m.  \n“Chestnut Hill was a great fit for us last year\, and we’re hoping to repeat that success again in 2025\,” said Joe Kirchmyer\, executive director of the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce. “As a nonprofit organization\, this is our largest fundraising event of the year and it’s very important to us that our participants and sponsors have a great time networking and playing 18 holes. We truly appreciate the support we receive from the community as it helps us provide year-round programming utilized by local businesses\, organizations and residents.” \nIn addition to a traditional scramble format\, the outing will feature lunch at the turn\, a steak dinner\, door prizes\, a sports memorabilia silent auction\, split club and other raffles\, beverage carts on the course\, and several contests including closest to the pin\, longest drive and putting. There will also be prizes for the golfers with the best team score\, as well as other surprises throughout the day! \nThe cost remains just $125 per golfer\, and foursomes are encouraged. DESCRIPTION:The Town of West Seneca and the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce will once again host the popular West Seneca Farmers’ Market\, sponsored by Western New York Federal Credit Union (wnyfcu.com)\, for the 2025 season! The 16-week market\, located on the hill at the corner of Union Road and Main Street\, adjacent to Town Hall\, will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday evenings from May 15 through Sept. 4\, weather permitting. There will be no market on June 19 due to West Seneca Community Days. \n“In addition to hosting more than 45 vendors consisting of farmers\, food producers\, artisans and food trucks\, the market will also welcome different nonprofit organizations each week\,” said Joe Kirchmyer\, executive director of the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce. “We’ll also have entertainment most weeks\, plus picnic tables for the convenience of our guests. The market has become a fun Thursday evening tradition\, and it tends to get bigger and better every year. DESCRIPTION:The massive 1999 undertaking to relocate the historic Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina will be the topic of a presentation offered by the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) Niagara Frontier Chapter and the Small Business Safety & Compliance Company LLC. Free\, open to the public and co-sponsored by the West Seneca Chamber of Commerce\, the event will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday\, Jan. 16\, in American Legion Post 735\, 35 Legion Parkway\, West Seneca. \nWest Seneca native and current Orchard Park resident Joseph Jakubik was instrumental in the move and will discuss his experience\, having served as safety coordinator and manager of the Historic Preservation Division of ICC Commonwealth\, a leader in the design\, construction\, demolition and maintenance of tall structures. \nThe Cape Hatteras Lighthouse was moved to save it from shoreline erosion caused by the Atlantic Ocean\, which had already started to encroach on its base. It is the tallest lighthouse in the U.S.\, standing approximately 210 feet from base to tip. \nThe event will open with networking from 5 to 5:30 p.m.\, followed by the presentation from 5:30 to 6:15 and a Q&A session from 6:15 to 6:30. Valuation topics discussed will include the approaches and calculations for a business ownership value for various purposes such as selling/buying a business\, buyouts\, taxes\, estate planning\, litigation\, etc. Also discussed will be adjustments for partial ownership positions. \n• 11 a.m.: Linda Catalano and Keith Weslowski of Legal Shield will speak on the topic of Legal & Identity Protection. They will address ID theft and how it is affecting millions\, and will educate you on protecting yourself. \n• 11:45 a.m.: Matthew McAnulty of Sgroi Financial will speak on the topic of Tax Planning in Retirement. This talk will cover what everyone needs to know about taxes in retirement. When someone plans on retiring\, or is already retired\, they will often ask: Is my Social Security taxable? How is my pension taxed? How do taxes affect my retirement account distributions? What are required minimum distributions? If I have an annuity\, will that be taxed? What type of accounts are taxable\, maybe taxable\, and never taxable? How are inheritances taxed to my heirs? Get answers to these questions and more to help make retiring easier. \n• 12:30 p.m. Allen Dembski of Buffalo First Wealth Management will speak on the topic Three Secrets of Financial Wellness. Dembski will discuss three of the most important secrets to help create financial wellness: Why cash flow matters\, why we spend\, and four areas of financial decisions. Financial wellness can be described as a personal journey that helps people feel comfortable about their finances. He will also cover the choices we make and how they align with our values\, goals\, and the ability to achieve financial security. \n• 1:15 p.m. Ann Bowback of Spectrum Health & Human Services will speak on the topic of Narcan. Spectrum offers mental health and substance use disorder counseling to adults\, adolescents and children in WNY. Naloxone (Narcan) is a medication used to treat an opiate overdose in emergency situations. This training will show individuals how to identify an overdose\, how to administer the medication and what to do after giving it. \nMeeting Room off Atrium: \n• 10:45 a.m. Jim Suchocki of Primerica will speak on the topic of Financial Tax Shelters. Whether you are saving for a home\, college or retirement\, knowing what tax shelters are available can be equally as important as the investment. You’ll explore the concepts of tax-deferred\, tax-deductible and tax-exempt tools to compliment your investment strategies. \n• 11:30 p.m. Brian Wirth of Clarity Group of New York will speak on the topic Medicare Changes. He will discuss the sweeping changes in the Medicare Part D Plan Re-Design for 2025 as part of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 requirements\, as well as how these changes may affect a Medicare beneficiaries’ plan benefits and costs as of January. \n• 12:45 p.m. Maralynn Johnson\, LMT\, will speak on the topic of How Stress Affects the Body.
